The Fribourg Museum of Natural History was founded in 1823 with the mission of promoting an understanding of natural science topics among the general population and promoting the protection and conservation of the natural treasures of the canton of Fribourg. It conserves the scientific collections of the canton and serves as a regional center of excellence on issues of flora, fauna and nature conservation. The Fribourg Natural History Museum is bilingual and regularly organizes exhibitions, lectures, craft afternoons for children, and other activities.
The Natural History Museum is located in Fribourg at the end of the Boulevard de Pérolles, about 1 km from the city center, in the building of the University of Fribourg and near the School of Engineering.
