Sykes' monkey

The Sykes' monkey, also known as the white-throated monkey or Samango monkey, is an Old World monkey that inhabits regions from Ethiopia to South Africa, including parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo. These primates are named after English naturalist Colonel William Henry Sykes. Originally thought to be the same as blue monkeys, Sykes' monkeys are distinguishable by a prominent white patch on their throat and upper chest, as well as a unique grizzled cap.

There are 12 recognized subspecies of the Sykes' monkey, each characterized by distinct traits and specific habitats. Some notable subspecies include the Zanzibar Sykes' monkey, Pousargues' Sykes' monkey, and the Mount Kenya Sykes' monkey.
