Park of John Paul II - a park in Lviv, in the Sichowski region, near the Greek Catholic church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and at the meeting of John Paul II with Ukrainian youth in 2001. The first park in Ukraine founded after independence.
A monument was set up in the future park, and then an idea appeared to sit around the park in honor of the Pope. In 2005, the Park Avenue was destroyed by vandals: it was ripped out with roots of over 300 young trees. Later, in June 2006, the Lviv City Council determined the borders of the park, which thus obtained an area of 1.38 ha.
The park of the name of John Paul II was solemnly opened on September 28, 2007. The first trees of cherry was planted by the parish priest of Father Orest Fredyna and representatives of the block "Our Ukraine - People's Self -Defense".
In September 2010, the terrain was completed - lanterns, benches and garbage containers were installed.
