Facts About Pleurodema thaul
Pleurodema thaul is a frog species within the Leptodactylidae family, indigenous to Argentina and Chile. These versatile frogs inhabit a range of environments, such as subantarctic and temperate forests, rivers, lakes, marshes, and even urban areas. However, habitat loss poses a significant threat to their survival.
Typically measuring between 3 and 5 cm in length, these small frogs primarily feed on insects and spiders. Their reproductive cycle extends nearly throughout the year, ensuring their continual presence in their habitats.
In Chile, Pleurodema thaul can be found from the Antofagasta Region to the Aysén Region. In Argentina, their primary distribution is near the Andes in the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro, and Chubut.
