Pfeishütte, Innsbruck
Facts and practical information
The Pfeishütte is an alpine club hut of the Innsbruck section of the Austrian Alpine Club at 1922 m above sea level above the Samertal valley with views of the surrounding peaks. Thus, the refuge is located on the northern side of the Inntal chain of the Karwendel in Tyrol not far from the provincial capital Innsbruck, where it is called the Nordkette.
Because of its central location and the numerous touring possibilities, the hut is an important base for mountaineers on multi-day ventures in the Karwendel, but also for summit ascents. In addition, the hut is popular with mountain bikers and hikers as a destination for day trips to the hut.
In winter the hut is closed, but there is an unlocked winter room for ski tourers in the adjacent building. In avalanche-safe conditions, high alpine ski tours to the surrounding peaks can thus be undertaken, but these invariably require solid experience.
