Kleiner Pal - Pal piccolo
Facts and practical information
The Kleine Pal is a mountain 1867 m above sea level in the Carnic Main Ridge in the border area between Carinthia and Italy. It is located near the village of Kötschach-Mauthen. In the Alpine mountain war 1915-1918 it was the scene of a war of position between the Austro-Hungarian and Italian armies. The former positions and trenches were made accessible again by the Dolomitenfreunde under the direction of Walther Schaumann as an open-air museum with more than 70 objects and are accessible today as an open-air museum.
Although the name Great Pal suggests a higher mountain, this one is lower than its smaller brother at 1809m.
