Facts and practical information
Frischenkofel, better known as Cellon, is a 2238-meter-high mountain massif in the Carnic Alps, located immediately west of the Plöckenpass road. The mountain peak is located in the border area between the Austrian province of Carinthia and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy, with the state border running directly across its summit region. The name is constructed and came into literature and maps in the wake of the nationalist movement after the First World War. Colloquially and locally, the original name Cellon is used.
