Saulakopf
Facts and practical information
Saulakopf, also called Saulenkopf, is a 2517-meter-high mountain of the Cimba Group in the Rätikon, a mountain range of the western Central Alps in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg. It has a great geographical dominance towards the east due to its massive size at the western end of the Rellstal valley, which is due to its eastern face that is over 400 meters high. Its southern flank appears as a rugged rock; to the west runs a strongly jagged ridge with a secondary peak, the 2498 meter high Saulaköpfli. The northern flank, which is easy to climb, forms a flat slope with a maximum inclination of 35°. Due to its favorable location and easy ascent, the mountain is a frequently visited excursion destination. There is no exact information about a first ascent of the Saulakopf in the 19th century.
