Brazil Travel Weather

April - May

Good months to travel around most of Brazil. Slightly cooler air temperatures and humidity than in earlier months favor sightseeing and trekking.

The beach and sea bathing season continues. Rainfall occurs, but does not cause major problems. It is worth remembering that the south of the country is slightly cooler during this time, while the Amazon and Pantanal plains areas are accessible and treks can be arranged.

June - September

The coldest months of the year, especially noticeable in the south of the country and in mountainous and highland areas. The northern and eastern coasts are slightly more rainy than other regions.

The best time to visit the Amazon Lowlands and the Pantanal Plain, as the dry season is underway in these areas.

October - November

Warm and sunny weather is returning in most areas of Brazil. There may be some fleeting rainfall, but it does not hamper visits. Beach lovers are gradually arriving to relax on the coasts. Longer hikes and excursions to higher elevations can be arranged.

December - March

The warmest months of the year, being the best time for beachgoers, especially those vacationing in the south of the country. The northern and eastern coasts are very hot and muggy. Rainfall may occur in the form of short-lived heavy downpours, but will not interfere with your vacation. A very good time to organize trekking and sightseeing.

The area of the Amazon Plain and the Pantanal plains are haunted by tropical rains, raising the water level in rivers and flooding some areas. You can then see them by boating.

In February/March, one of the most spectacular events takes place in Rio de Janeiro - the Brazilian Carnival. It attracts about a million tourists from all over the world.
