Facts and practical information

Trosky is a neovolcanic hill with ruins of a castle also called Trosky in the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area and the Bohemian Paradise Geopark, approximately between Turnov and Jičín, in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Troskovice in the Semily district of the Liberec Region. The hill is the highest point of the Vyskeřská vrchovina and its top part is protected as a natural monument. The characteristic silhouette of the hill is a symbol of the Bohemian Paradise.

The object of protection here are two suckers of nepheline basalt, which were formed in the Tertiary by the venting of a slag cone and the exposure of the feeder paths of the protruding magma. At the south-eastern foot of the hill lies the Apolena Nature Reserve.
