Facts and practical information
The Zdeněk Burian Museum is a museum opened in 2011 in Štramberk, the birthplace of painter and illustrator Zdeněk Burian, who became famous for his drawings of prehistoric animals and other paintings with prehistoric themes.
At present, the museum is located at Náměstí 31, together under one roof with the exposition of the Museum of the Novojičín Region and the town information centre of Štramberk. Every year the museum organises seasonal thematic exhibitions of the painter's works. In other months, the museum serves as a municipal gallery. The original town museum was founded by the town in 1959 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of Štramberk's promotion to a town. The building, together with the neighbouring Wallachian timbered well, is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
