Church of Our Lady of the Nativity
Facts and practical information
The Church of Our Lady of the Nativity is a Catholic parish church located in La Neuville-en-Hez in the Oise department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Its oldest part is the Romanesque bell tower, which dates from about 1140. The large arcades in the nave and to the north and south of the base of the bell tower are not much more recent, but already in the Gothic style. However, it is the flamboyant gothic style that dominates the interior of the church. The choir with its apse and its two aisles were built in this style at the limit of the 15th and 16th centuries, and then the base of the bell tower was reworked in the same style. More than two centuries later, when classical architecture reigned supreme, the nave and aisles were rebuilt in the flamboyant style, except for the western façade, which alone displays the classical style. The church was registered as a historical monument by decree of April 2, 1927. It has an interesting collection of furniture, most of which predates the French Revolution.
