Vadálló-kövek, Dobogókő
Facts and practical information
The Wilderness Rocks are a group of rocks of volcanic origin in the Visegrad Mountains. The rock formation, together with the Preaching Chair, is a highly protected part of the Danube-Ipoly National Park, the core area of the Biosphere Reserve. The bedrock of the rocks is andesite, which was formed as a result of volcanic activity around 12 million years ago. The rock formations, which are in a rather crumbly and exposed position, were visited by Hungarian climbers as a climbing school, especially in the early 20th century.
