Bandra–Worli Sea Link, Mumbai

The Bandra–Worli Sea Link, officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is an engineering marvel that spans the Arabian Sea to connect the neighborhoods of Bandra and Worli in the bustling city of Mumbai, India. Completed in 2009, this cable-stayed bridge is a vital infrastructural asset that has significantly reduced travel time between these two points, which were previously connected by a circuitous and congested route.

Stretching 5.6 kilometers in length, the Bandra–Worli Sea Link is not only a critical transport artery but also a new symbol of modern Mumbai. With its sleek, towering pylons and intricate network of cables, the bridge is a visual spectacle, especially at night when it is illuminated against the dark waters below.

Constructed with the aim of easing the notorious traffic congestion of Mumbai, the bridge has succeeded in decreasing travel time from 60-90 minutes to a mere 10-15 minutes. It has eight lanes of traffic and features state-of-the-art surveillance systems for safety and traffic monitoring.

The Bandra–Worli Sea Link has also become a tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of the city's skyline and the vast Arabian Sea. While stopping on the bridge is not permitted for sightseeing purposes, the experience of driving over the sea with the Mumbai skyline receding or approaching is one that leaves a lasting impression.
