When Is the Best Time To Visit Indonesia?
The answer to the question of what is the best month to visit Indonesia depends on what you are interested in doing during your stay. Here you can see an overview of each month and its typical weather conditions.
Climate of Indonesia
Almost all of Indonesia is in a humid equatorial climate zone, the exception being the Lesser Sundaic Islands which have a sub-equatorial climate.
Most of the country is characterized by high temperatures and high humidity and rainfall. An intense northern monsoon blows across Indonesia from November to March, while a slightly milder southern monsoon makes its presence known from May to September.
Temperatures are fairly constant throughout the year, hovering around 25°C - 30°C, and in mountainous areas around 16°C - 18°C. In the highest parts of the mountains (the Snowy Mountains in New Guinea) there are frosts.
Rainfall occurs in every season, in the western islands it is evenly distributed, while in the eastern part we can distinguish a drier period. Average annual rainfall is 2000 mm - 3000 mm, and in the mountains even up to 5000 mm.
