Facts About Isle of MTV
The Isle of MTV is a highly anticipated annual music festival organized by MTV Europe, part of Viacom Media Networks. Since its inception in 2007, the festival has primarily taken place in Malta, though it has also been hosted in Portugal, France, Spain, and Italy. Despite being one of Europe's smaller music festivals, it still attracts a vibrant crowd of around 10,000 attendees each year.
Held on a single day in June or July, the event commences at 6 PM and concludes just before midnight. Remarkably, entry is free, making it accessible to everyone, irrespective of age. To facilitate ease of access, Malta Public Transport provides special bus routes to help attendees travel to and from the venue.
Over the years, the Isle of MTV has featured an impressive lineup of artists. Renowned performers such as Gorillaz, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, and Martin Garrix have graced its stage, offering a diverse mix of music genres that collectively create an unforgettable experience for all attendees. The festival has been held in various locations, with recent editions taking place at the Granaries in Floriana, Malta.
Although the festival boasts a rich history of bringing music lovers together from across Europe, the 2020 event had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this setback, its spirit remains undiminished. The Isle of MTV continues to be a significant cultural event, uniting fans for a day of fantastic music and celebration.
