Samkowa Czuba, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Samkowa Czuba - a small coniferous hill on the western side of the outlet of the Strążyska Valley in the Polish Western Tatras. The source of the name is a Podhale surname or nickname Samek.
Samkowa Czuba is a gentle hill with a domed shape. It is located in the lower part of the north-eastern ridge of Łysanki separating the Strążyska Valley from the Suchy Żleb. It is separated from the Samkowe Zwornik, located higher in this ridge, by the Samkowe Saddle. It is completely forested, overgrown by the natural spruce-fir-beech forest, one of the best preserved in the whole Tatras. At its foot from the Strążyska Valley there are naked limestone crags: Skała Jelinka and Kominy Strążyskie. On the northern side its wooded slopes descend to the Zakopane Basin. There are two small ravines of periodic streams.
Samkowa Czuba is not available for tourists. It is located in the strict protection area Regle Zakopiańskie. Only at its northern foot leads the Way Under the Reglami.
From plant species that are rare in Poland, the occurrence of the leafless spurge was found on Samkowa Czuba.
