Facts and practical information
Bear - bula in the Valley of Five Polish Lakes. It is located in the end of Miedzienny Kostur, so it belongs to the Miedziane massif. On its south side there is Hruby Scree, the biggest scree cone in the whole valley, and on its north side the area between Niedźwiedź and Wielkie i Przednim Stawów is collapsed by moraines. Bear is rocky and scree, its top is covered with dwarf pine.
On Mt Niedźwiedź in winter skiers train, there is also a winter passage from the PTTK mountain hostel in the Valley of the Five Polish Lakes to Szpiglasowa Pass. In winter this passage is easier than the marked tourist trail. It is also safer in terms of avalanche danger, but not completely; at high avalanche danger there is no completely safe ascent to the pass.
