Legionowo Historical Museum - a museum founded in 2006 in Legionowo, a municipal cultural institution.
The institution was set up by a resolution of the Town Council of Legionowo on 28 June 2006, on the basis of the Historical Collection of Legionowo which had existed since 10 November 2001. From the very beginning, the exposition has been housed in a Villa dating back to the 1930s, which housed an exhibition on the history of the town until September 2012. For the purposes of the museum, in 2008, a modern exhibition pavilion was also built, housing the archaeological collection, resulting from the excavations carried out since 2008 on the premises of the Police Training Centre, and an exhibition devoted to the history of Legionowo in the years 1877-1990. Meanwhile, in May 2012, a branch of the museum, "Na Piaskach", was opened, which is housed in a restored building of the tsarist army casino, dating from 1892, transferred from the area on Zegrzyńska Street.
The museum presents the following permanent exhibitions: The Villa - a biographical exhibition devoted to Alina and Czesław Centkiewicz, containing numerous mementoes of the married couple of writers and polar explorers, The Pavilion - an archaeological exhibition containing exhibits from a Lusatian culture cemetery discovered in the town in 2008, and an exhibition presenting the history of Legionowo in the years 1877-1990. Branch 'Piaski' - an exhibition devoted to military units of the tsarist army, the German army and the Polish Army of the Second Republic stationed in Legionowo. Moreover, there are exhibits related to the Nazi occupation in 1939-1944 and to the units of the People's Army of Poland.
The museum is a year-round facility, open on weekdays and on the second and fourth Sunday of the month and the first and third Sunday of the month.
