Pawłowska Góra
Facts and practical information
Pawłowska Góra - an elongated hill in Mały Pieniny descending in a northwest direction. It has two peaks, the higher of which is 840 m above sea level. Pawłowska Mountain separates valleys of two streams: from the east it is Skalski Creek, from the west - Kamionka. It is almost completely covered with forest, mainly spruce and beech. On its south-eastern slopes there used to be a Dziobakowa Polana, now almost completely overgrown with forest. Above the southern slopes there is Janeczków Glade, the former farmland of Lemkos from Jaworki, now grazed by gazds from Podhale. On the western foot there is a dirt road and a green hiking trail. By the trail, at the foot of the Pawłowska Mountain, by the Kamionka stream, there is a small and flat plain Za Potok, and on it in the summer season operates a student camping base under Wysoka. The northern slopes descend to Bukowinki - in the past these were also Lemkos' fields, now they are vast meadows grazed by the gazada people from Podhale. There is a shepherd's hut here, offering oscypki and other products made of sheep's milk.
Part of the eastern slopes of Pavlovskaya Mountain is part of the Zaskalskie-Bodnarówka nature reserve. There is the Hole Rock, which together with the Red Rock on the other side of the stream forms a rock gate.
Zetterstedt's beak, a species of rare moss under protection, was found here in 2016.
