Facts and practical information

The Boto Machado Garden is a garden in Lisbon. It is also known as Jardim de Santa Clara, a reference to Clara of Assisi, founder of the female branch of the Franciscan Order.

It was built in 1862 and is located near the Feira da Ladra flea market, held in Santa Clara field. The garden runs down the slope from Santa Clara market to Paraíso street; at the east top of the garden there is a splendid view of the Tagus River. It was named after Pedro de Amaral Boto Machado, a Portuguese republican politician. It has a children's playground, bar with esplanade and game tables.
