Alburrica is a river beach located in the city of Barreiro, Setubal district, Portugal. It is formed by a small peninsula, which extends over the connection area of the Coina river with the Tejo river. It constitutes an integral part of the river area of Barreiro, together with the Clube Naval Beach and Bico do Mexilhoeiro.
In this same place are the famous Alburrica windmills, symbol and heritage of the city of Barreiro. The three windmills of Alburrica were built in 1852. The largest of the mills is called Gigante. The Gigante Mill, different from the other two, is of Dutch typology and was deactivated in 1919.
The one in the center is the West and the last one is the East. The East and West mills are of a common typology, with a two-story cylindrical tower, mobile roof, and two millstones. They were deactivated in 1950. The Barreiro City Hall acquired them in 1973.
