Malý Muráň, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Little Murań-rocky culmination in the Slovak Bielsko Tatras, located in their main ridge on the northwestern side of Muranie. It is located between the Red Skałka Murańska and the extreme Murańska Pass, separating him from Murania. To the north -east, a wall of about 80 m high and 200 m wide in the base falls to the Interior Valley. The wall also falls to the southwest to the Jaworowa Valley from Majania. It has a height of about 120 m, but it is not so steep, in addition, it is fragmented. The lower part of the south-eastern ridge of the small Muranie is a tilted rock plate of several dozen centimeters wide, called the Murian horse-hence the Slovak name of the peak.
Little Murań is clearly visible from the clearing near Muranie. This peak is the first rocky hill from the west in the Bielsko Tatra Mountains. Stanisław Eljasz-Radzikowski mentioned its name for the first time in 1893.
The crossing of the ridge from the extreme Murańska Przełęcz to the saddle behind Rogowa takes 30 minutes and has places 0, I or the 2nd degree of difficulty on the Tatra scale. However, this is a strict protection area closed to tourists and mountaineers.
