Facts and practical information
The church of Santa María la Mayor de Villamuriel de Cerrato is a temple of Catholic worship erected in the 13th century in proto-Gothic or early Gothic style, within what can still be considered a transition from Romanesque. Its refined architecture, free of later reconstructions or extensions of different styles, makes it an emblematic monument of this style in Castile and Leon. Its most outstanding element is the octagonal dome over a radial vault, with Romanesque reminiscences.
