Facts About Tricolored parrotfinch
The tricolored parrotfinch is a vibrant bird native to Timor and the southern Moluccas. This charming finch inhabits subtropical and tropical dry forests, as well as dry savannahs. Occupying an area between 20,000 to 50,000 square kilometers, the species enjoys a relatively extensive habitat range.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classified the tricolored parrotfinch as of "least concern" indicating that, fortunately, the bird is not facing any immediate threats to its survival.
Research led by Antonio Arnaiz-Villena and his team investigates the origins and evolutionary history of this finch. Their findings suggest that the species may have originated in India before spreading to Africa and various Pacific Ocean habitats.
