Monument to Peter the Great - a monument at the place of Peter the Great's residence in Poltava. The monument was erected in 1849 near the Church of the Savior on the street Spaskoja and Pylyp Orlyk.
It was built on the place of the house of Cossack Magdenok, where the commandant of the fortress Olexiy Kelin lived. On the second day after the Battle of Poltava Peter I. In 1817 a stone wall was built there according to the design of architect P. Tarasov, and in 1849 a new one was built, manufactured in St. Petersburg according to the design of architect O. P. Brulov by artist I. Hamburger. The monument is a square three-tiered arched chapel on a granite stylobate. A shield and a sword are placed on top, a sholom on the shield. On the plates is a high relief image of the coat of arms of the Russian Empire, the left hand, which is resting, memorial inscriptions.
