Blumengärten Hirschstetten, Vienna
Facts and practical information
The flower gardens Hirschstetten in Quadenstraße in Vienna's 22nd district Donaustadt belong to the Municipal Department 42 - Vienna Municipal Gardens of the Municipality of the City of Vienna.
In the flower gardens Hirschstetten the plants needed for the public plantings were grown since the 1950s. As the production of the plants became more and more superfluous due to purchases, it was decided to redesign the areas and open them to visitors. Since 2002, the plantation has been open between mid-March and mid-October and is used as a recreational area. In addition to the palm house in the 60,000 m2 florarium, the public can visit themed show gardens, a recreated traditional farm and several small zoological areas.
