Purani Haveli, nestled in the heart of Hyderabad, India, stands as a testament to the regal splendor of the Nizams who once ruled the region. This grand palace, with its unique European façade juxtaposed against the traditional Nizami architecture, offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of one of the richest monarchs in Indian history.

Constructed in the 18th century, Purani Haveli was originally the residence of the Nizam's Prime Minister. However, it was later acquired by the second Nizam of Hyderabad and underwent extensive renovations to become the official residence of the Nizam's family. The complex includes the main building, which is a U-shaped structure with a single-story central building that is flanked by two double-story oblong wings, creating an expansive courtyard in the middle.

One of the most notable features of Purani Haveli is the world's longest wardrobe, built to house the sartorial collection of the sixth Nizam, Mahbub Ali Pasha. The wardrobe spans the entire length of one wing of the palace and reflects the extravagance of the Nizami era. Visitors can marvel at the sheer size and the intricate wooden carvings that decorate the wardrobe doors.

The palace also houses a collection of gifts and souvenirs that the Nizams received from dignitaries around the world, along with an array of vintage cars, including a 1930 Rolls Royce, a Packard, and a Jaguar Mark V, among others. These exhibits provide a fascinating insight into the lavish lifestyle of the Nizams.

Today, Purani Haveli is not only a historical site but also an educational and cultural hub. Part of the palace has been converted into a museum, known as the Nizam's Museum, which showcases the heritage of the Nizams, including their silver jubilee celebrations. The palace grounds are also home to a school and a library, ensuring that the legacy of the Nizams continues to educate and inspire future generations.
