Facts About Black magpie
The black magpie, despite its name, is neither a true magpie nor a jay. It belongs to a distinctive group within the Corvidae family known as treepies, which share some characteristics with magpies. Notably, it is the only species in the Platysmurus genus.
This bird inhabits several Southeast Asian countries, including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Additionally, there is a particular subspecies that is endemic to Borneo. The black magpie flourishes in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and mangrove forests. Unfortunately, its natural habitats are being threatened by ongoing habitat loss.
