Facts About Eurasian Worm Snake
Xerotyphlops vermicularis, commonly known as the European blind snake or European worm snake, is a captivating species within the genus Xerotyphlops. This diminutive snake inhabits a diverse range of environments, stretching from the Balkan Peninsula and the Aegean Islands to Cyprus, and extending as far east as Afghanistan.
What is particularly intriguing about the European blind snake is that it is the sole representative of the Typhlops genus native to Europe. Another blind snake that has established itself in Europe is the Brahminy blind snake, also referred to as the "flowerpot snake" (Ramphotyphlops braminus). This species was notably discovered in the soil at Kew Gardens in London.
