Vlaai

Vlaai, often known as Limburgse vlaai, is a delectable pie or tart boasting a pastry base and an assortment of mouthwatering fillings. Typically, a vlaai measures between 26 and 31 centimeters in diameter. This delightful treat originates from the Limburg provinces in both the Netherlands and Belgium and is also a favorite in neighboring regions of Germany.

Traditional vlaai fillings include fruits such as cherries, apricots, strawberries, and plums. However, unique variations exist, featuring fillings made from crumbled butter and sugar mixtures or even cooked rice and custard porridge.

Vlaai holds a special place in many people's hearts and is often enjoyed during significant life events such as birthdays and funerals.
