Upłazkowa Turnia, Tatra National Park

Upłazkowa Turnia - a crag in the eastern slopes of the Koscieliska Valley in the Western Tatras. It is located in the southwestern ridge of Równi nad Karczmą, which through Upłazkowa Turnnia, Saturn and Ratusz falls to the bottom of the Koscieliska Valley, forms the right border of the Krakow Gorge and separates it from Pisaniarski Żleb. Upłazkowa Turnia is separated from Równi nad Karczmą by Upłazkowa Pass, from Saturn by the Pass behind Saturn. Upłazkowa Turnia is built of carbonate rocks. Viewed from the top it is inconspicuous, not rising much above the grassy ridge of Uplazkowa Prze喚czka group of rocks, but to the Cracow Gorge it descends partly by walls and partly by a very steep slope. There are many caves, among others. There are many caves, such as: Cave with Low Concretions, Hole over the West, Hole under the Want, Triangular Shelter, Shelter in Uplazkowa Turnia, Uplazkowa Koleba, Uplazkowa Szczelina, Wet Szczelina, Cracked Szczelina, Gawra, Small Gawra, Cave by Perć, Skoruszowa Cave, Cave above Perć, Arkada, Shelter by Arkada, Cave above Arkada, Hidden Shelter, Lamb Cave, Tunnel under Boulder Passage, Mirror Corridor. The relative height of the peak above the bottom of the Cracow Gorge is 350 m. However, from the Pisaniarský Gully it is possible to get to all its passes without any difficulties.
Upłazkowa Turnia is a topographically complicated massif. From its south-eastern side only the top is rocky, below the crag descends on an easy, grassy slope to the Stone Front. The main Uplazková Ridge descending from the top in north-west direction to the Saddle behind Saturn has the height difference of 290 m and consists of many crags and switchbacks, which both on the south and north side descend on steep walls. In Uplazkowa Grani following objects are distinguished: the top of Uplazkowa Turnia, Uplazkowe Saddle, Uplazkowa Kopa, Uplazkowa Szczerbina, Uplazkowy Ząb, Uplazkowy Przechód, Uplazkowy Kopiniak, Uplazkowe Wrótka, the switch behind Uplazkowa Baszta, Uplazkowa Baszta.
Moreover, from the top in south-west direction to the Cracow Gorge descends another ridge forming the right frame of the lower part of the Stone Front. It consists of the Smooth Crag, the Bird Pass and the Bird Crag, at the foot of which there is a rock formation called the Church. Between this ridge and the main north-western Upłazkowa Ridge there is a glacial cauldron - Upłazkowy Kocioł.
It is not available for tourists. It is well visible from the Pisana Glade, from the area of Chuda Przełączka and the tourist route through the Red Gulch to Tomanowa Valley. Climbers marked many climbing routes in it.
