Suchy Wierch, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Suchy Wierch - the highest peak of the Stoł massif rising on the western side of the Koscieliska Valley in the West Tatra Mountains. Towards the north, its slopes fall to the Przysłop Kominiarski Pass, on the south side to żlebż żeleźniak, on the west side to żlebż Zabijak. Moreover, in the south direction from the peak there is a ridge of Maturowe Stołów connecting with Raptawicka Grana through the Saddle towards Stawek.
The name of Maturowa Czuba comes from the surname Matura encountered in Podhale and is associated with the former iron ore mine, called Maturka, located at the foot of the Maturowe Stołów ridge. This name functions in Wielka encyklopedia tatrzanska Paryskich, while in other publications of the Tatra Mountains it usually does not appear.
It is built of Triassic limestone. On the summit of Suchy Wierch does not lead marked hiking trail, but you can reach the Glade on Stołach located about 400 m from the summit. Leading to it the blue trail from the Valley of the Kościeliska begins just above the upper end of the clearing Stare Kościeliska.
In the past, the summit and the entire massif of the Tablelands were grazed and were part of the Tablelands Hall.
