Zmarzłe Czuby, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Zmarzłe Czuby - two crags separated by a wide pass, located in the long eastern ridge of Świnica, specifically in the eastern ridge of Mały Kozie Wierch.
From the main summit of Mt Mały Kozie Wierch they are separated by a narrow Marzena Prze喚zka Wyżnia, from which falls the deep rift Honoratka, formerly called Żydowski Żlebem and still today marked as such on some maps. The northern walls descend to the Frozen Caterpillar Pond. There is a narrow shelf where the route of Orla Perć has been led. The passage is secured with chains and buckles. There is often snow here until late summer, which has been the cause of many fatal accidents. The steep southern walls of Zmarzłych Czub descending toward Dolinka Pustej are about 160 m high. From neighboring in the ridge Zamarła Turnia Zmarzłe Czuby are separated by Zmarzłą Przełęcz.
In the Tatra mountain guidebooks the height of the Frozen Peaks is not given. On few maps there are different data - from 2193 and 2189 m for both summits to 2222 m for the western summit.
The first recorded ascent on the western summit of Mt Zmarzły Czub - Rev. Walenty Gadowski with companions - around 1902 during the ascent on Mt Mały Kozi Wierch from Dolinka Pustej on the saddle between Mt Zmarzły Czubami and the ridge, through the western summit of Mt Zmarzły Czub, Zmarzłą Pass Wyżnią on Mt Mały Kozi Wierch.
The first mountaineering ascent on the northern perch of Zmarzone Czub on the eastern top - Kazimierz Dobrucki, Witold Henryk Paryski, Adam Uznański July 28, 1931. In the south-eastern steep walls of Zmarzone Czub there are many climbing routes of great difficulty for the mountaineers.
Of the plant species that are rare in Poland, the occurrence of tetra sedge was found.
