Facts and practical information
Wielki Voloshyn - located at an altitude of 2155 m, a peak in the High Tatras, the highest point of the Voloshyn ridge separating the Waksmundzka Valley from the Roztoka Valley.
The peak is located in the eastern ridge of Świnica and is the second from the west out of several peaks located in the Voloshin Ridge. From the west it borders with Maly Voloshyn, from which it is separated by Voloshynskaya Szczerbina. Maly Voloshyn descends to the Krzyżne Pass, in whose surroundings the Koszystá Ridge separates to the north. Wielki Voloshyn borders on Pośredni Voloshyn from the north-east. Between these two peaks lies Vyšné Voloshinské Saddle. From the southern slopes of Wielki Voloshyn the Urwany Żleb descends to Roztoka Valley, while from the Vyšné Voloshynské Saddle the Koryto rift descends.
The first recorded ascent: Eugeniusz Janota, Maksymilian Nowicki and guide Maciej Sieczka, August 16, 1867. The first winter ascent: Mieczyslaw Karlowicz and Roman Kordys, January 25, 1908 Both ascents led through the Krzyżne Pass.
Through the Waloszyn massif was carried out in the early twentieth century by the priest Walenty Gadowski route Orla Perć. However, the section from Polana pod Wołoszynem to Krzyżne has been closed for many years, the entire Wołoszyn massif is an area of strict protection and is excluded from tourist and mountaineering traffic.
