Boczań, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Boczań - a hill in the coniferous part of the Western Tatras, above the Jaworzynka Valley. It is the western branch of Wysoki. It is separated from Skupniowy Uplaz by Skupniów Przechód and Skupniów Żleb. Both the top and the slopes are covered with forest.
In the past, the slopes of Boczania descending into the Jaworzynka Valley were forestless. The forest here was cut down for the needs of the steel mill in Kuźnice, and the forestless slopes were grazing areas Hall Jaworzynka. There are several rocks - Cyganka, Cycek and others. There is also one cave - Cycek Cave. At that time, the name Boczań concerned only these slopes, only later was transferred to the whole hill. After the abolition of grazing, the slopes of Boczan were afforested with larch trees. In addition to them, spruces grow here, among which Clematis alpina is exceptionally abundant.
Through an unnamed, shallow saddle between Boczań and Wysokie and on the northern side of Boczań, several meters below its ridge, leads a popular tourist trail to the Gąsienicowa Valley. The section through Boczań is completely devoid of views, because it is forested. Tourists have trodden several paths leading from this trail to scenic points in the ridge of Boczan.
