Szafranówka / Šafranovka

Szafranówka, 742 m, Safronówka 741 m - a peak in the main ridge of Małe Pieniny, on the Polish-Slovakian border.

On the south-eastern side Szafranowka adjoins Witkula while on the western side through a quite deep pass - Bystrzyk. The peak is the keystone for the ridge diverging to the north towards the Grajcarek valley culminating in Palenica. Palenica is separated from Szafranowka by a pass called according to various sources Maćkówki or Maćkówka. The northwestern slope descends to the valley of the Głębokie Creek flowing from under Maćkówki and its recycler - the Dunajec River, the northeastern slope descends to the valley of the Grajcarek, while the southern slope drains the Leśnicki Creek. On the north-eastern side of the peak there is a valley of the Zabanisko stream, its name testifies to the fact that in the past some mining works were carried out.

The top is terminated by a sharp rocky ridge built of crinoid limestone, but the slopes are partially overgrown by hazel and gray alder thickets. The summit itself is forested from the south, but to the north and west it offers a view of the Pieniny Mountains, the Gorce Mountains and the Radziejowa Range in the Beskid Sądecki. In addition, you can also see the massif of the highest in the Beskid Wyspowy - Mogielica. In the slopes there is a rocky shaft 3 m deep, apparently it used to be deeper.

There are two hiking trails running through the peak - the blue one on the section from the High Rocks to the "Orlica" mountain shelter and the Pienińska Road and the yellow one leading from Szczawnica through Palenica to Szafranówka. On the ridge west of the peak Slovakian yellow trail to the village Lesnica diverges. On the slopes on the north side there are ski trails and a ski lift.

From plant species rare in Poland, black iris and narrow-leaved oman were found.
