Fort V- Dębina, Kampinos National Park
Facts and practical information
Fort V - one of the forts of the Modlin Fortress, built as part of the construction of the first ring of forts in the 1880s, later modernized.
The fort is located in Debina village. The basis for its design was the model fort "F1879". Similarly to other fort structures, the fort underwent multiple modernizations: in the 1890s and on the eve of WWI. The last modernization was not completed; among other things the huge escarpment caponier was not finished and the armouring of the main rampart was not installed. The fort had concrete barracks connected by poterns with an exit to the rampart and by caponiers: frontal and half-barrel caponiers.
The fort was not in the direction of the German attack in 1915. Retreating Russian troops blew up some of the structures.
