Kaffirland Grassland Frog

The South African sharp-nosed frog, scientifically known as *Ptychadena oxyrhynchus*, belongs to the Ptychadenidae family. This species can be observed in numerous countries across Africa, including Angola, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is also likely to occur in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Niger, Rwanda, and Sudan.

This frog thrives in a variety of natural habitats. You might find it in subtropical or tropical dry forests, dry and moist savannas, and moist shrublands. It also inhabits swamps and intermittent freshwater marshes. *Ptychadena oxyrhynchus* is highly adaptable and can live in human-modified landscapes such as arable land, pastures, rural gardens, and even heavily degraded former forests. Additionally, it is often found around canals and ditches.
