Zmrzlá veža, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Modra Turnia - a peak with a height of 2312 or 2311 m, located in the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains in the Slovak part of the High Tatras, between the wheeled peak in the southwest and the red Turnia in the northeast. From the top of the wheeled top of Modra Turnia, it is separated by a circular Szczerbina and circular tips, of which the extreme circular tip is closest to. The Modra Ławka pass is located between Modra Turnia and Czerwona Turnia.
Modra Turnia is a highlighter in which the northwest of the bolcome from the main ridge is a bounded ridge. The first significant pass in this ridge is a wide circular gate, behind which the circular Kopiniak. Modra Szczerbin is still located high above the circular gate in this ridge.
The peak is inconspicuous in relation to the neighboring circular peak and red turnia, however, its conical dome is relatively outstanding. The northern and west slopes of Modrej Turnia fall to two branches of the circular valley, separated from each other with a wheeled ridge. From the west it is a Bździochowa Valley, from the north - Bździochowe Korycisko. The northern wall is low and grassy-rocky, ends with a gully converging from a modre bench. In turn, the southeastern slopes tower over the Jastrzębia Valley-one of the upper floors of the Zielona Kieżmarska Valley. The wall above the Jastrzębia valley is about 150 m high and is limited by gully falling from a modre bench and a circular Szczerbina.
No tourist trail leads to Modra Turnia. The most convenient path for mountaineers leads to the top on the ridge from a Modrej bench. The most interesting for climbers is the south-east wall, but poorer than the walls of other peaks in this area. It is partly marked out at least very difficult Sawicki and späth.
The first entrances: in summer - Jan Fischer, Zygmunt Jaworski, Stanisław Krygowski, Klemens Bachleda and Józef Gąsienica Kaspruś Zuzaniak, in 1900. In winter - Gyula Hefty and Lajos Rokfalusa, December 3, 1911.
The name of Modrej Turnia is derived from the Modre Stawk in the nearby lamb valley. Slovaks also used the term Červená veža. Hungarian and German names are associated with other surrounding rates.
