Facts About Spirit of Burgas
Spirit of Burgas is a vibrant summer music festival that brings the city of Burgas, Bulgaria to life, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Black Sea coast. Since its inception in 2008, this festival has rapidly ascended to become one of Europe’s premier summer events, supported by major sponsors such as MTV Europe, Tuborg, Mobiltel, Jack Daniel's, Jacobs, and DSK Bank.
The festivities unfold in the southern part of the Burgas Sea Garden and spill onto the central beach, where stages are erected directly on the sand. This unique venue adds to the festival's allure, making it a beloved destination for music aficionados.
Over the years, Spirit of Burgas has showcased a diverse lineup of artists spanning various genres. Renowned acts like The Prodigy, Serj Tankian, Moby, Skunk Anansie, and Leftfield have performed on its stages. The 2015 edition was particularly noteworthy, attracting a record crowd of approximately 47,000 people with headliners such as Robbie Williams and Kasabian.
However, the festival has faced its share of challenges. It was canceled in 2014 due to funding difficulties, and in 2016, it was paused again because of a lack of interest from Bulgarian promoters. Despite these setbacks, Spirit of Burgas remains a celebration of both local Bulgarian talent and international stars, drawing music enthusiasts from across the region.
