The Holy Cross Minster has been the main Catholic church of the city of Rottweil since the early 15th century; previously it was a branch of the mother church in the Altstadt suburb, the Basilica of St. Pelagius.

The Monument Foundation of Baden-Württemberg named the church Monument of the Month March 2018.
