Bootshafen, Kiel
Facts and practical information
The boat harbor in Kiel is a 4,200 square meter triangular water area, located south of the old town and west of the Schwedenkai and Kiel Fjord.
The boat harbor - together with the two water areas known as Kleiner Kiel - is a remnant of the original inlet branching off from the Kiel Fjord, which enclosed Kiel's old town, then located on a peninsula, to the south and west. In the 19th century, the boat harbor was separated from the water areas now known as Kleiner Kiel and the Kiel Fjord, and has since been connected to them only by pipes.
