Facts and practical information
The Von-der-Heydt-Turm is an observation tower at 274 m above sea level in front of the Königshöhe on the Kiesberg, which rises south of the Wupper in the Wuppertal district of Elberfeld-West.
The tower was built in 1892 from donations of the Elberfeld banker August Freiherr von der Heydt and named after the donor. It was built in the German Renaissance style according to the design of the Elberfeld city building inspector Schaumann. It is 20 meters high. Today, volunteer watchmen allow groups to visit the tower.
A bronze plaque commemorating the donor family was stolen during the Second World War. In 2013, a stele with an information panel was erected with the history of the structure.
