Postplatz, Görlitz
Facts and practical information
Post Square is considered one of the most beautiful city squares in Gorlitz.
The oval square is bordered to the south by a row of Gründerzeit buildings. Jakobstraße and Berliner Straße form the extension to the southern train station. Typical Prussian buildings border the square to the east and west. The post office in particular, with its large backyard, occupies almost the entire eastern area. The plain red clinker brick building in the west today houses the district court and the local court. A projecting group of buildings in the late classicist style of the early Wilhelminian period is located on the north side of the square. In the middle of the square stands a magnificent art fountain, the "Muschelminna".
