Facts and practical information
The Schiller Monument in Wiesbaden was erected in 1905 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Friedrich Schiller's death; the statue and its accompanying figure were created by the well-known Berlin sculptor Joseph Uphues.
The monument stands in front of the rear side of the Hessian State Theater and is part of the Warmer Damm Landscape Park. It shows Schiller as a young writer in a declamatory pose. A female figure sits on the base of the monument as a symbol of tragedy.
