Horstmarer See, Lünen
Facts and practical information
Lake Horstmar is a lake of about nine hectares in the Lünen Seepark in the Lünen district of Horstmar. It borders directly on the Datteln-Hamm canal and is located on the area of the former Landesgartenschau Lünen.
It is not normally fed by the Datteln-Hamm Canal, but there is an access that can be opened if the water loss is too great; however, in the past this has never been necessary.
The lake was created from a former mining subsidence area and agricultural land and was renaturalized or created for the State Garden Show in 1996. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Prussian harbor and Schwansbell Castle.
