The nature reserve Ruhraue Witten-Gedern is a nature reserve of about 85 hectares on the Ruhr River, located across the border in the two district towns of Witten and Herdecke in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was established in 1984 in the course of the landscape plan development of the Ennepe-Ruhr district and bears the object identifier EN-006. The area is named after the settlement area Gedern located to the east.
About 98.5 percent of the protected area belongs to the Witten municipal area, about 1.5 percent to the Herdecke municipal area.
