Facts and practical information
Fliegermorde is the term used to describe the killing of downed or emergency-landed Allied aircrews in the final stages of World War II, in violation of international law. The vast majority of the perpetrators were local functionaries of the NSDAP as well as members of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Secret State Police. Some sources document more than 300 cases of murder and refused assistance. After the end of the war, those involved in the airmen's trials were tried and sentenced before Allied military tribunals. Over 150 of the accused were executed.
