Sankt Mauritius, Wiesbaden
Facts and practical information
St. Mauritius Church is a Catholic church located at Abeggstraße 37 in Wiesbaden, Germany.
From 1959 to 1960, the parish center and lower church were realized first. The church itself, the bell tower and the rectory in Brutalist style followed in 1967-1968. The Stuttgart sculptor Otto Herbert Hajek and the artist Hans-Georg Schleifer designed the stained glass windows, and the sculptor Werner Kump designed the entrance door. The church was consecrated in 1968 and named after St. Mauritius, the patron saint of Wiesbaden. It is thus in the tradition of the three Mauritius churches, the first of which was built in Wiesbaden as early as the time of the Carolingians. Since the merger of all Catholic parishes in downtown Wiesbaden on January 1, 2012, St. Mauritius has been a daughter church of St. Boniface.
